Luminaria Dedication

Seven Nights of Lights

Luminaria glow during Seven Nights of Lights

Each Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve the Rosary Portico of the Franciscan Monastery is  lined with 1,000 luminaria candles, symbolizing our welcoming of the Holy Family into our hearts and creating a magical place during this special season.

How to Get Involved

Join us for Seven Nights of Lights:

  • Sponsor a luminaria (mid-November to mid-December)
Make a donation in honor of your loved ones and have the names attached to luminarias. They will be remembered in prayer by the friars and during the daily rosary prayed Christmas Week. Click here to get your luminaria.
  • Volunteer (the week before Christmas)
Volunteers are welcome to help set up the luminaria in advance of Christmas Eve. Contact the Garden Guild for details.

  • Attend the Blessing and Lighting of the Luminaria (Christmas Eve)
The luminaria candles are blessed by the friars, then everyone who comes is invited to help light the candles.
  • Come to the Open House & Mass (Christmas Week)
On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we hold an open house before the evening Mass. Enjoy the candles at night and pray for the loved ones for whom the candles are dedicated.
