Donate Luminaria for Seven Nights of Lights!

luminaria at the Franciscan Monastery

“Seven Nights of Lights” is back at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America this Christmas.Place your dedications online or download this order form and mail in with a check. Dedication orders must be received by Dec. 18, 2023 and are now closed.

Donate luminarias in honor/in memory of your loved ones. The name of each dedication will be placed on individual luminarias lining the historic upper garden or placed in the beautiful Portiuncula Chapel, at the Franciscan Monastery from Dec. 24-31, 2023. The names also will be listed on the Luminaria Tribute page on this website, and included in the friars’ daily prayers.

Join Us for the Blessing and Lighting

Also join us at the Franciscan Monastery (1400 Quincy St. NE, Washington, DC) on Dec. 24, 2023, noon, for the traditional blessing and lighting of the luminaria. (You can help light the candles!)

This year, the monastery gardens and chapel with the luminaria will be open daily from Christmas to New Year’s, 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m., with a special evening on Wednesday, Dec. 27. That night, you are invited to visit both the luminaria and the Franciscan Monastery’s 800 Years of Wonder creche display until 7 p.m. Free parking.

Your Dedications Make a Difference

By donating a luminaria, you not only honor your loved ones in a special way, but you also support the care and preservation of the historic Monastery gardens, as well as the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild’s fresh farm program, critical to helping address food insecurity in our community.

Orders must be received by Dec. 18, 2023, so we can prepare the candles with your loved ones names.

Thank you for your support and have a Blessed Advent and Christmas.
