We are grateful to those who have dedicated luminarias to be placed at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land this Christmas season to honor and remember loved ones.
We invite you to visit our tribute page and to reflect and pray for those listed. Each person will be remembered in the prayers of the Friars from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve.
The Blessing and Lighting of the Luminaria is Christmas Eve, 12 noon, at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, 1400 Quincy St. NE, Washington, DC 20017. The lanterns will remain lighted through New Year’s Eve.
Please visit us for the lighting (and see the exhibit for the 800th anniversary of the creches), enjoy the beauty of the lights at this historic monastery, and spend time in prayer and thanksgiving. Merry Christmas!
The Monastery gardens will be open daily, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with a special evening on Dec. 27, when they and the creche exhibit will be open until 7 p.m. We’ll see you there!
